Natasha began her journey into dance as a young child in tap, ballet and jazz. After leaving it behind at 16 she had ventured back onto the path of pursuing a professional dance career in her adult years. Upon 2 years completion of study at Lewisham College and a BA HONS Degree in Dance Studies, she emerged into the professional world of dance. She has since worked nationally and internationally as a dance artist and continues to do so, whilst learning about the culture of dance in various parts of the world. In her year of graduating (2013), Natasha formed her own company, notetoSELF DanCe with whom she thoroughly enjoys working with. She is able to get her voice to be heard through her choreography and her company provides many opportunities to explore her creativity independently and collaboratively. Alongside running a company she works as a freelance Dancer in addition to being a Dance Teacher and Choreographer in schools and colleges around London. She is a passionate Aerial Yogi and is working towards advancing in her training to become a qualified Yoga teacher later this year. As a dance artist her credits include Olympics 2012, Breaking Convention U.K, Buckingham Palace, World of Dance USA, Sadlers Wells and World Hip-Hop Championships USA.
Fun fact: Hardly anyone calls her by her birth name anymore aside from her mum and family, she is known to most as Coco. She is lactose intolerant but loves real cheese! And only known to some, Coco is obsessed with bright funky socks and also can’t wait to own a puppy once she can make the commitment. Fav programme: Ben Fogle; New Lives in the Wild
Deliah is a Contemporary Dancer and choreographer from Germany. With an early interest in creating her own work she started presenting her first pieces at Kranhalle Munich during her studies at Iwanson International and choreographed for the dance festival “Poetry in Motion” at State Theatre Tübingen. Deliah also spent some time in the U.S. and after finishing her training in New York and Munich, she obtained her MA in Choreography at Trinity Laban, London. Deliah now works as freelance choreographer, dancer and teacher. Her work includes collaborating with Xavier Velastin as Motion.Captured, choreographing and dancing for singer and producer Escence and dancing for Awake Dance, notetoSELF DanCe and the Akasha Tanzensemble. Aside from her choreographic work, Deliah holds regular open workshops in Germany and London and assists Joe Alegado at his Workshops at University Tübingen.
Fun fact: As a former gymnast she loves all the acrobatic stuff, she’s got a weak spot for dark chocolate and she could probably never sit still in an office for 8 hours.
Cerys first began her dance training in Musical Theatre at her local college in Wales developing skills in Jazz techniques, Singing and Acting. Cerys then found her love for Contemporary Dance and went on to study Dance Performance at Middlesex University, London. She studied the foundations of Graham, Humphrey, Cunningham and Release based Contemporary Techniques, alongside Choreography. After her training she progressed on to uphold various seasonal contracts at hotels and holiday parks in the UK and abroad, acquiring a plethora of skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of dance styles and performance.
Fun fact: Cerys previously joined the Circus and performed as a showgirl touring Central America. She also feels so grateful to be a part of notetoSELF DanCe and is thoroughly enjoys learning from Coco and all company members to develop her skills.
Since high school, Georgie always had the need to travel, thus leaving Cairns, Australia to dance in Israel for 10 months on the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company – Dance Journey Program, (2017/2018). She started out at Brent Street in Sydney, where she learnt commercial dance, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary (Cunningham, Horton, Graham Technique) and Musical Theatre. She graduated in 2016 with a Cert VI in Dance.
Fun fact: Aside from dancing, Georie is a lover of all things furry. She has 3 dogs, 3 horses and 1 cat. She adores Art and loves exploring it, drawing it, painting it and also presenting it on stage.From the age of 4, she has never been more comfortable, then to be upside down. This developed from tricks in the backyard, to being a competitive Gymnast. She soon after found Aerial Acrobatics to continue her drive for the extreme.
Jason, a Dance Graduate from University of Bedfordshire, started dancing in 2008, initially in Popping, Locking and Commercial Dance. Through exposure to the dance world, he discovered Breaking and Contemporary and decided to focus his technique on the development of these two dance styles. In 2011, Jason participated in the UDO World Championship and placed 3rd in the Solo Category. In the same year with his company at that time, ‘K2’ won 2nd place in the Groups Category at UDO Southern Streetdance Championship. Since then Jason proceeded to focus on professional dance training and continue the path to discover his expression in fusing Breaking and Contemporary dances. In the summer of 2018, Jason debuted his first professional choreography “Alex Moses”, collaborating with Mithun Gill, commissioned by IVO Theatre. A duet, which explores the complexities of a relationship within the LGBTQ community.
notetoSELF DanCe – ‘Pretty Mess’
Jessica also known as Jess is the youngest member of the company and our newest Graduate. Introduced to dance, she started taking ballet classes from a young age and continued this into her adult life. In 2018 she completed and graduated from The University of Winchester with a BA Hons in Choreography and Dance owning a very proud 1st Class Honours degree. Jess also has a great love for teaching and discovered that she was skilled in this sector when she started teaching Ballet classes to all abilities in various dance societies whilst at University. She is now a member of notetoSELF DanCe Company and is growing in confidence outside of her University atmosphere. She has been with the company since September and is thoroughly enjoying working with her company members.
Josmaury Becerra Bandes, known as Jos Bandes, originally from Venezuela/Spain moved to London in 2015 to train in and pursue a dance career. She studies at Lewisham College for two years, learning the fundamentals in contemporary dance, jazz and ballet technique whilst additionally gaining performance skills. Post-graduation from Lewisham she completed 1 year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. It was during this time that she felt that Laban was unfortunately not the place for her and took the brave step of departing the course prematurely, investing her time to train physically and mentally to continue improving and keep dancing. One of the reasons she auditioned for notetoSELF DanCe was due to the fact that during her journey at Lewisham college she had the pleasure of meeting Natasha Lee whilst she was working there as a choreographer. She was presented with new ways in which she wanted to move and what type of dancer she wanted to become. Upon her 2nd attempt at auditioning for the company, Jos was very pleased to be offered a place with notetoSELF DanCe.
Fun fact: Jos sneezes like a cat and usually up to 7 times. Although well-spoken in English, being Venezuelan and Spanish mixed, whenever she tends to get nervous her brain seems not to offer any English at all.
Katy joined notetoSELF DanCe in September 2018 having previously trained at London Studio Centre where she was a part of the INTOTO dance company, directed by Sue Booker and Leesa Phillips. Whilst in the company she worked with Luke Brown, Gemma Nixon and Freddie Opoku Addaie. Upon graduating she set up TOBY as well as the collaborative company TobyLikesMILK with Phoenix Chase-Meares, with both these companies she has created shows that have debuted at The Place and The Cockpit as well as performances at The Sugar Factory in Groningen, Netherlands.
Raised in Wales, Rachel began her professional training in London at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, graduating in July 2018. Her initial interest in urban dance led to her self-teaching from YouTube videos at home. This style of dance combined with the technical contemporary foundation allowed her to find herself, fusing elements from both genres into teaching and developing her own movement style. notetoSELF Dance allows her to continue to research and cultivate her movement together with like-minded individuals. As a professional artist she also works as a Choreographer for Impact Youth Dance Company and is a qualified Barre Instructor at Define London. Alongside all of this she co-owns a growing Vegan Meal Prep business named Plant Pots Kitchen and has developed a knack for making those luscious looking breakfast bowls that Instagram always teases the eye with. They taste exceptionally great too!
Originally from Miami, Florida Sarah began her dance training at the age of 13 in Italy, where she moved to Rome on a Scholarship to the Dance Arts Faculty to specialize in Contemporary Dance. During her years there she gained incredible skills whilst she attended classes with numerous international choreographers and companies including Netherlands Dance Theatre, Batsheva, English National Ballet and Akram Khan. After working for company, In and Out Junior Ballet for 3 years, she would follow on to work as a freelance dancer for the Opera Theatre of Cagliari. As an Independent Artist, her latest works in London have included a short film to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. On the other end of the spectrum she features as a ballet dancer in Big Shaq’s ‘Man Don’t Dance’ music video.
Fun fact: Sarah can speak fluent in four languages! She also loves playing around with different languages and imitating accents!
notetoSELF DanCe is an Independent Contemporary Dance Company based in the South of London led by Natasha ‘CocoRed’ Lee, as the Choreographer and Artistic Director. Established in October 2013, they have had 5 great years and headed their 6th with a re-birthing with fresh artists, bigger goals, fresh ideas and new pathways. The company produce work of a contemporary nature where dance and physical theatre often collide. They create art which highlights social matters and through their work, endeavour to reach beyond a solely dance based audience, whilst depicting and evoking through the dance and performance. Although heavily contemporary based, Natasha works with a range of eclectic dance artists. This often makes for an exciting creation process as she infuses her stylistic quality with that of her dancers. Trained in various styles and techniques primarily Hip-Hop and contemporary, Natasha’s choreographic style is influenced by her background and training, working within a contemporary dance release-based framework.
